Vergel Meneses (born January 14, 1969, Malolos, Bulacan) - nicknamed "The Aerial Voyager" - is a retired Filipino professional basketball player who last played for the Talk 'N Text Phone Pals in the Philippine Basketball Association. He was also a former PBA Most Valuable Player and a many-time member of the Philippine National team. A high leaper blessed with a deft shooting touch, a dozen post moves and an eye for the open man, Meneses has been described as the most talented player ever to play in the PBA.〔http://www.pba.ph/25greatest.php?selected=8#Player〕
==Collegiate career==
Meneses started out his collegiate basketball career as King Bomber of the Jose Rizal College (now Jose Rizal University) team. Although, he was not able to lead his team to a championship in his four-year tenure at the National Collegiate Athletic Association, he was one of the premier players of the said league where he was known to be a high-flyer. He solidified his status as an exciting player when he won the Philippine Basketball League (PBL) Slam Dunk contest as a collegiate player besting such established amateur players then like Alvin Patrimonio among others. At JRC, he played alongside his older brother, Vic Meneses, the second brother tandem at the JRC team after the more celebrated Cezar brothers, former PBA MVP Philip and David.
